And while they were homes, they were also so much more, including regional hubs for cowboys, headquarters for vast empires of horses and cattle, and respites away from the hustle and bustle of city life. In the August issue of Western Art Collector we will turn our attention to ranches as subjects in our inaugural Collector’s Focus: On the Ranch. Readers will see images of cowboys and cattle, but also the quiet life of farmers, farm animals, rustic log cabins in pristine wilderness and magnificent barns framed by gorgeous scenery.

Collector’s Focus: Outlaws & Lawmen

We’re putting the “wild” in Wild West with our first-ever special section devoted to Outlaws & Lawmen in the August issue of Western Art Collector. The lawlessness and violence of the West—and the people who set out to tame this violence and make it safer for everyone—have long been subjects in Western art. Images of gunfights, mounted posses, stagecoach robberies and sheriffs maintaining peace have brought drama and action to the Old West, from Deadwood, South Dakota, to Dodge City, Kansas, to Tombstone, Arizona.
