Hiking above Logan Pass, Glacier National Park, to Hidden Lake Pass, the near-timberline meadows are scattered with cheery, yellow Avalanche or Glacier Lilies and occasional mountain goats. The wildflowers spill to the edge of the cliffs overlooking Hidden Lake, so alluring in its deep blue, scattered islands and far-side trails, that the lakeshore below was our next destination, despite grizzly bear warnings. A longer hike down than it looks, but oh so worth it, as the views are spectacular in every direction. For Sale. $5500. Available at A. Banks Gallery, 131 E. Main St., Missoula, MT 59802, 406-728-9348, https://www.abanksgallery.com/artists/43-darcie-peet/works/ darciepeet.com

Along the Icefields Parkway in the Canadian Rockies, an ample layer of September snow already cloaks the peaks. The low, fall sun creates bold shadows and bright lights across an array of fall shrubs and whispy-white groundcovers going to seed or turning gold, sienna and burnt orange For Sale. $5400. I’ve cycled and driven this setting above Lake Dillon in the mountains west of Denver for years. By mid-summer the lake is full around a smattering of islands, though in June before the high mountain snowmelt, one can even walk between these islands. Given monsoon season in the high country the sky is always a surprise and this evening full of color and turbulence. For sale. $8900. A summer’s walk through Betty Ford Alpine Gardens, Vail, Colorado, is simply magical. Framed by spruce and aspen, these tall, back-lit spikes of Foxtail Lilies top a group of pink and orange poppies with a smattering of happy, little Himalayan Geraniums at their feet. What a world of texture and color! Thank goodness for interpretive signs everywhere helping one learn about the myriad of surprises one finds throughout the gardens. For sale. $3900. After a tumultuous, summer storm in the desert, all is fresh and sweet smelling as clouds dimmish, flatten and quietly glide away at the end of the day across the Avra Valley. Reflective remnants of rain still thread the desert road in Saguaro National Monument West, outside of Tucson, AZ. For sale. $5200. Available at Settlers West Gallery, 6420 N.
