Returning after a hugely successful inaugural year is our second annual special section Collector’s Focus: The Contemporary West. This section is devoted to artists, galleries and museums that are pushing the envelope with color, composition, design and subjects. Going back to the days of Maynard Dixon and the Taos Society of Artists, Western art has long been a comfortable destination for artists who are exploring new ideas about Western imagery. From impressionism and modernism to abstraction and cubism, there has been no shortage of artists who have expanded our vision of the West. In The Contemporary West we pay tribute to the artists who are pushing the genre in exciting directions.
