Our 12th annual Collector’s Focus: Women Artists returns to pay tribute to talented women artists who are captivating collectors in the market. Like their male peers, women artists embrace a range of Western subject matter. They have much to say on this historical genre and their skillful depictions of the Old West, the New West, and the Next West deserve our attention. This section will continue to showcase fresh pieces of Western art produced by today’s talented women artists. Join Western Art Collector as we shine a light on leading artists creating art today.

Iconic images of America’s deserts have long appeared in artwork, and still is today. In the June issue, Western Art Collector will feature the return of its special section Collector’s Focus: Canyons & Deserts, which will offer collectors an exclusive look into a popular genre of Western artwork. These works will offer breathtaking views of some of the places that have come to define the American West, whether it’s Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon or smaller, more intimate destinations hidden throughout the country.

Join us for our milestone 15th annual State of the Art: Oklahoma feature this June! Home to roughly 80 percent of the world’s Western art, 23 art museums and numerous galleries and artists, it is no secret why this state is frequented by collectors. The state’s large invitational art shows, like the Prix de West at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, also draw visitors from across the nation each year. Western Art Collector will travel to Catoosa, Edmond, Oklahoma City, Bartlesville, Norman, Park Hill, Tulsa and more to offer a thorough guide to finding Western art in Oklahoma.

Western Art Collector is thrilled to unveil the inaugural special section Collector’s Focus: Pastels, which will be dedicated solely to this versatile and accessible medium. Pastels are widely popular among artists, and therefore collectors, because of their rich pigmentation and the fact that all you need is a piece of paper and you are ready to start creating. Whether working with soft pastels or hard, oil or chalk-based, pastels are easily portable and allow for quick work, making them a favored medium for painting en plein as well as in-studio. This feature will run in conjunction with the International Association of Pastel Societies’ 32nd Annual Juried Exhibition in Tucson, Arizona. Don’t miss this once-a-year opportunity!
