Settlers West Summer Show
5/1/2022 - 5/31/20221. Sundown's Amber Glow
Darcie Peet
Oil
14 x 14 inches (L x W)
I see and experience the desert and this mountain range in so many moods and colors. The trail leading into the painting is the Linda Vista hiking trail which skirts the base of this very recognizable ridgeline. Big, end-of-the-day, lavender-blue shadows start to slide over the landscape and set aglow the swaths of burnt orange and sienna cliff faces and slopes.

2. Glacier and Aqua Glisten
Darcie Peet
Oil
24 x 18 inches (L x W)
Bow Lake in the Canadian Rockies shimmers in light turquoise and unusual, almost opalescent, aqua, created by the “glacial flour” sediment. The angle of the sun is just at the right angle to send glistening, diamond sparkles across the brilliant surface of the water. Hike the Canadian Rockies in September, and a splash of warm, fall colors along shorelines and meadows beautifully contrast with the cools of the mountains and waters.
For Sale: $3700. Available at Settlers West Gallery, 6420 N. Campbell Ave. Tucson, AZ 85718, 520-299-2607 www.settlerswest.com www.darciepeet.com
3. Half Hour 'Til Sundown-Pikes Peak North
Darcie Peet
Oil
36 x 48 inches (L x W)
The north side of Pikes Peak looms large as fall, storm clouds tumble around the slopes sending light and shadow dancing while revealing a “change-of-seasons” blanket of snow. With shorter, autumn days it won’t be long until the sun is down, but with one last burst of energy, the low sun sets ablaze foreground pastures, a solitary group of aspen and layers of clouds.
For Sale: $12,500. Available at The Broadmoor Galleries, 1 Lake Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80906. 719-577-5744, www.broadmoorgalleries.com/darcie-peet/ www.darciepeet.com
4. Inlet Sandbars-Lake Louise
Darcie Peet
Oil
24 x 20 inches (L x W)
After a long day’s hike to the far end of Lake Louise, then higher to where the trail abruptly terminated at the base of Mt. Victoria, our return led us back down through pine and aspen forest with occasional meadows scattered with wildflowers. The tumbling glacier-fed, mountain stream we followed eventually flowed into stunning, aqua Lake Louise initially meandering through the shallows and around patterns of sandbars. Very different views of the iconic lake are seen from this direction, but no less dramatic with Mt. Richardson tipped in September snow in the background For Sale. $4200. Available through David Wilkinson and ArtzLine, America’s Online Gallery, 800-958-5360, www.artzline.com/darcie-peet/ www.darciepeet.com
5. Humbling. Approaching Denali.
Darcie Peet
Oil
20 x 30 inches (L x W)
Mt. Huntington, Alaska Range, near Mt. McKinley (Denali), it’s sheer face catching evening light. Bold and humbling. I was so glad to be back on the ground after this small plane ride around the massive peak of Denali.
For Sale. $5200. Available at Settlers West Gallery, 6420 N. Campbell Ave. Tucson, AZ 85718, 520-299-2607 www.settlerswest.com www.darciepeet.com
