FIRST SNOW oil on canvas 16h x 20w in 40.64h x 50.80w cm $5,500 This lovely painting (if I do say so myself) is one of my personal favorites. I'm a huge fan of the Age of Steam, and my paintings in the genre run the gamut of gritty, workaday Industrial Age subjects to much more idyllic, romantic depictions like this one. There are few things in the Steam Railroad niche more captivating than that billowing, pure white steam cloud rising up into the chilly air of a winter morning. In my painting, I reaffirm the loveliness of that visual effect by echoing it in the puffy, dawn-kissed cotton-ball clouds meandering across the sky and the thin blanket of snow gently covering the ground and the tracks, all painted in tones which reflect the warm, soothing magic hour light which bathes the scene.

ICE AND IRON oil on canvas 24h x 30w in 60.96h x 76.20w cm $8,000 As the title implies, this painting is a symphony of apparently discordant elements; sunlight, steam, snow, ice, iron and fire. The subject drew me to itself by virtue of many appealing visual treats - the beautiful play of sunlight on snow, the pure, smooth snow-covered ice on the surface of the pond and the way that the cast shadows play upon it, the way that winter's bare branches are wreathed in steam, or partially lost in the sun's glare. My lovely wife had been waiting for over a year for me to finally commence work on this painting. She was the first to admit that the fruit of my artistic labors had been well worth the wait. I must admit that I was more than a little intimidated by the challenge of successfully operating within the constraints of the limited and subtle pallette required, and the deftness that would be required of me in painting all the subtle edge work in the cast shadows - to say nothing of the dramatic backlighting and illusion of glare provided by a partially cloud-veiled sun. The most that I can say about the success of this work, however - knowing my limitations as I do - is that a faithful God blessed my labors of art.
